Dr. Johnson is a Specialist Urological & Laparoscopic Surgeon.

He has been in the Medical profession for the past 27yrs. Following his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery degree (MBBS) he obtained a Diploma in Family Medicine from the University of Pretoria (DipFMed). Thereafter he worked and furthered his post graduate studies in Scotland and England where he obtained a post graduate Doctorate degree (MD), Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEdin) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Urol).

 

Dr. Johnson returned to Namibia in 2016 as the only Urologist with a post graduate Doctorate degree and immediately joined the Ministry of Health & Social Services. He has been working as a Laparoscopic Urologist in full time Private practice since 2018.

 

In February 2018 Dr. Johnson performed Namibia’s first Intravesical Botox injection. In the same year he went on to perform Namibia’s first Brachytherapy treatment for Prostate cancer, in partnership with Dr. W. van Niekerk from Johannesburg. In June 2023, (along with Dr F. van Wijk from Pretoria) he again performed Namibia’s first Penile prosthesis implantation and Artificial Urethral Sphincter implantation.

 

Dr Johnson has attended and presented at numerous International conferences and is the author of several scientific publications in peer reviewed journals. He is also the recipient of numerous awards such as the prestigious Ralph Shackman research grant (England), Norman Gibbons research registrar award (Liverpool) and the World Urology Congress (SIU) prize at an International scientific conference in Vancouver, Canada.

 

He is passionate about public health information dissemination and creation of awareness of common Urological pathologies especially involving Men’s health. Dr Johnson is married and has 2 beautiful children.
